Who We Are - The Real MES

The reason we do it is simple: service, reliability, community & fun is at the core of who we are. The original MES, Matthew E. Sarracco, served the Greater New Haven, CT community with the Hamden Fire Department as a lieutenant and high angle rescue technician for almost 25 years.  

During countless mountain rescues on nearby Mt. Carmel, there was no room for error on 700 ft cliffs, making it imperative to source the most reliable gear on a municipal budget.

When he wasn’t working on the mountains, Matt developed a passion to get out and play on them chasing the peaks of the New England skiing, hiking and camping areas. When having fun, it was important his recreational equipment offered the same reliability as his rescue gear. Now retired from the fire department, he’s committed to guiding others in the local outdoor community who share his passion with a new premium service model & his favorite gear so everyone can get outside & play!
